Garry Scarborough

Garry has 25 years’ experience in the construction industry in New Zealand, Australia and Asia. He started as a cadet with Fletcher Construction in 1979, then worked with Beca Carter before being employed in Australia and Asia by the Concrete Construction Group.

Garry proved himself as a leading Commercial Manager in the Australian building construction industry, his project administration included the Nikko Hotel in Potts Point and Ramanda Renaissance Hotel in Pitt Street – two major undertakings, the high-tech Sydney Futures Exchange and the Holiday Inn in Coo gee. These successes led to his assignment to Thailand in early 1992 to help establish Concrete Construction Group’s office in Bangkok.

Garry was a key part of the senior management team and he was involved in projects ranging from a luxury resort and superstore to Thailand’s tallest building, the 89 storey Baiyoke II Tower. Garry returned to Australia in 1994 to rejoin Concrete Construction Group’s New South Wales division where he concluded the First Government House project and led tender teams.

Garry returned to Auckland in 1995 and shortly after formed Scarbro Construction Limited.

Peter initially trained as a carpenter and is now respected as a leading project manager in the construction industry. He has worked on developments of all types and scales, both in New Zealand and in the UK.

Peter has led the construction teams on all of Scarbro’s projects since the company’s formation and has an excellent track record delivering projects to high levels of quality and meeting program demands. Peter continues to oversee all Scarbro projects.

Qualifications: Trade Certificate (Carpentry)

Twenty years’ experience across New Zealand and Australia, in both corporate and construction roles, has given Peter a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry and all its requirements. He brings a background in quantity surveying and project management to all Scarbro projects.

Some of his previous roles include: Quantity Surveyor for Aspec Construction, Capital Expenditure Manager for ASB Bank Properties, Commercial Manager/QS for Construct Management Pacific Ltd and  QS/Estimating & Project Controller for Angus Construction.

Phil has joined the Scarbro management team to strengthen & consolidate the finance and administration function of the company. He has had extensive experience in head finance, IT & commercial roles spanning across small to large sized businesses in a range of industries, in both New Zealand and Australia.

Brent has extensive experience in the construction industry in projects as varied as a marae, school, airport terminal redevelopment, and apartment buildings. He has been design manager for a number of projects and has demonstrated a high level of construction knowledge which is essential to this role.

Qualifications: MBA (Hons)Degree in Quantity Surveying Bachelor of Business Studies .

In his role as quantity surveyor, Piers has 7 years experience in the construction industry both in NZ & the UK.

Piers initially joined Scarbro in 1997 where he gained most of his training before leaving for the UK. His experience there was on large commercial projects in London ranging from £20 to £50 million. During this period Piers was heavily involved in the administration of subcontract packages from procurement to completion. On rejoining Scarbro in 2003 he has been responsible for the tendering & administration of various large project including the C-Vu, Stanford & Altitude apartment buildings.

Qualifications: BConst majoring in Quantity Surveying.
